When a customer needed to replace an existing DC motor from their plastic extrusion plant in a particular frame size, they contacted us. The client specifically required the new motor to achieve 4.4KW.
The Challenge
One of our stock of new DC motors had the exact mechanical configuration but with a different electrical rating. The stock motor was rated for 3.3kW with 180 volt armature and the client needed 4.4kW with a 460 volt armature.
The solution
Our solution was to rewind the motor to the client’s specifications. We did this by dismantling the stock motor and removing the windings. New coils were manufactured for the armature, interpoles and mainpoles to suit the required specification. The windings were dipped, the parts reassembled, and the motor fully tested. The motor ran perfectly to the new rating, resulting in a very happy client.
