When a customer needed to replace an existing DC motor from their plastic extrusion plant in a particular frame size they contacted electrical motor specialist Mawdsleys who were able to help. The client specifically required the new motor to achieve 4.4KW.
One of our stock of new DC motors had the exact mechanical configuration but with a different electrical rating. The stock motor was rated for 3.3kW with 180 volt armature and the client needed 4.4kW with a 460 volt armature.
Our solution was to rewind the motor to the clients’ specifications. We did this by dismantling the stock motor and removed the windings. New coils were manufactured for the armature, interpoles and mainpoles to suit the required specification. The windings were dipped, the parts re-assembled and the motor fully tested. The motor ran perfectly to the new rating resulting in a very happy client.
