Mawdsleys Raise Vital Funds for Harefield Hospital at Golf Day

On the 18th September, employees, customers and suppliers of Mawdsleys took to the fairway for a day of golf and fundraising, with all money raised going to a very worthy cause.

Find out more about the event, the winners in both categories and the very deserving charity that the funds raised were donated to.

The Event

With the sun shining, players gathered at the Manor House Golf Club in Chippenham before setting off in teams to take on the challenging course; being the inaugural event, the pressure was on to claim first prize.

After an enjoyable day’s golf and hospitality, the winners of each event were crowned and the players headed back for some post golf entertainment – A Question of Sport, which had the teams racking their brains, to little or no avail.

The Winners

The team event was won by Managing Director of Mawdsleys Pete Woodward alongside other teammates Leon Ball, Phil Standsby and Paul Killingback.

In the individual stableford competition, the winner was another Mawdsleys employee, Gary Cox our Defence Account Manager (not a fix, we promise!).

The Charity

After the day was over and the funds were counted up, we were delighted to have raised £200 for a fantastic cause – the Harefield Hospital Heart and Lung Specialist Centre.

The hospital is the largest specialist heart and lung centre in the UK and helps treat people with rare and complex conditions, such as adults and children who are living with Cystic Fibrosis.

Money donated to the charity is used for building projects, buying equipment, funding vital research and improving the lives of patients with heart and lung conditions.
