Mawdsleys BER recently secured a contract to refurbish engine room fans to support the Royal Fleet Auxiliary (RFA) Cluster Team.
The Challenge
The boat, which was in dock for scheduled maintenance, required a complete refurbishment of its 24” Axial Flow Engine Room Fans.
As a result of continued investment, in-house industry expertise, and a fully equipped workshop, we were able to offer competitive pricing and a quick turnaround to secure the contract.
The Solution
After utilising our own transport to collect the axial flow fans, our engineers cleaned, degreased, shot blasted and dynamically balanced the fans before they were reassembled with the 45kw overhauled motor.
Electrical checks were then carried out to assess performance and ensure the fans would run optimally and safely once back on board the ship.
Finally, the assets were painted in light admiralty grey before being transported back on our own transport to the customer for refitting to the vessel.
The Results
Regular communication with the customer enabled us to deliver the fans back to the customer to complete the project on time and within budget. The customer was delighted with the quality of the work carried out and shared: “We are impressed of the craftsmanship demonstrated by Mawdsleys’ engineers and the timely manner in which the project was delivered.
